The student-teacher ratio which is maintained at 20:1, allows for personal attention and individualized instruction to be given to each student through differentiation. Student-centric teaching methods are the cornerstone of delivery of our curriculum, which is designed utilizing a backwards-planning model called Understanding by Design (UbD).
International-minded and experienced faculty are supported by an ongoing professional development programme that is the heart of the learning experience created at the school.
Our diverse student and teacher body includes over 26 nationalities. Our teachers are sensitive to cultural differences and requirements. Respect and ability to thrive in a multicultural environment is emphasized through International Week celebrations, international field trips, participation in activities such as Model United Nations, and in our regular school assemblies. Our school’s affiliation with organizations such as the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the East Asian Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) also enlarges our international experience.

Our teachers and leaders have and continue to develop a school-wide curriculum based on these programs that is aligned and clearly articulated.
OIS has two career and college counsellors who work with homeroom teachers and parents to assist students in thinking about their future and dealing with their present challenges. Our career counseling team helps students firstly explore options in the field of their choice and are guided on their applications to universities in India and abroad. Students may also elect to take a SAT preparation course at school if they wish, and most are encouraged to do so. Visits from American, British and other colleges and universities are arranged frequently and provide students with first-hand information on the application process for each school.
Community Outreach Programme
Our students invest many hours in community service — be it building homes through Habitat for Humanity, visiting a local home for elderly, holding a beach cleanup or tutoring students from financially less-privileged backgrounds. Our students learn to be passionate about the needs of others and to turn that passion into action.
